2025 Spring Sports Update
Thank you for all those who completed the spring sports questionnaire.
Based on the responses, we seem to have enough interest to push forward with flag football for boys in grades three through eight, co-ed pickleball for grades three through eight, and girls volleyball for grades five through eight.
I am still waiting for more information from ADW about flag football and pickleball. Formal registration will go out once I have that information.
Volleyball will consist of practice one night a week at St. Elizabeth with one game a weekend at Mercy in Potomac. Practices should start in early to mid-March and the season should run through mid to late May. Space is limited. You will need knee pads and a volleyball. A jersey will be provided. It appears that there is sufficient interest to field more than one team. But our ability to do that depends on having additional coaches. So far, we have one head coach and an assistant coach. The head coach knows the game well and is willing to lead the practices and educate others how to coach during games. So, you don’t necessarily need volleyball experience to step up and volunteer to coach. Volleyball registration is now open through February 26. For those interested in rec baseball or softball, RBBA is a local recreational league under new leadership that has openings. CYO is not involved in RBBA, but we are sharing the information for those interested. More information about RBBA is available through this link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DnEC4ovk5HO32rqWAuUFUR9eNreikayajJ3oLPdCgtw/edit?usp=sharing
